Read more about the DVD Series: “Learn to Heal Yourself from Pain through Viniyoga Therapy and the Feldenkrais Method ®

For you to cultivate a healthy lifestyle before, during and after our sessions, we have created a series of support materials: DVD Series: Learn to Heal Yourself from Pain through Viniyoga Therapy and the Feldenkrais Method®. I developed the Learn to Heal Yourself from Pain through Viniyoga Therapy and the Feldenkrais Method® DVD series in response to the major complaints that I have been receiving over the past two decades: low back, sacrum, hips, upper back, neck, shoulders, sciatica, knees and digestion. Viniyoga Therapy This DVD series reflects a distinctive approach to the practice of yoga. If you follow the program as designed, I am sure that you will experience noticeable improvement in your quality of movement, your sense of vitality and your capacity for awareness. Viniyoga is an ancient Sanskrit word that implies adaptation and appropriate application. We use “Viniyoga” to refer to an approach to yoga practice that adapts the tools of yoga to the unique condition, needs and interests of the student. This approach to yoga practice evolved out of the teachings of T.Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar of Madras, India. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Study The Viniyoga approach to the treatment of back health was validated in a clinical study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, and is documented in the Annals of Internal Medicine, December 2005. This DVD is based on the same Viniyoga protocols that Gary Kraftsow designed for that clinical study. Feldenkrais Method®. Physicist Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais developed the Feldenkrais Method®. This method is on the leading edge of human development techniques. It is of value to people with a wide range of difficulties — neurological, musculoskeletal, postural, movement, breathing, stress related issues— as well as to singers, musicians, and athletes, seeking to improve their performance. The Feldenkrais Method® is designed to improve the movement repertoire of dancers, musicians and artists, reduce pain or limitations in movement, and promote general well-being. Because it uses movement as the primary vehicle for gaining awareness, it is directly applicable to disorders that arise from restricted or habitually poor movement. The Feldenkrais Method® holds that there is no separation between mind and body, and thus learning to move better can improve one’s overall well-being on all levels. THE PRACTICES Each of these practices is designed to be used on a regular basis, preferably daily or at least several times per week. Consider these practices as part of your regular routine to maintain a healthy and happy life. There are three complete practice sequences for the low back, sacrum and hips, and three for the upper back, neck and shoulders.

  1. Short and easy Low Back and Sacrum Therapy (23 Minutes)
  2. Focused practice of Hip Therapy (30 Minutes)
  3. Low Back Strength and Stability practice (40 Minutes)

If you have ongoing low back, sacrum and hip pain, please begin with the first two therapy practices, which are designed to rehabilitate, strengthen and stabilize each targeted area. The first practice is the mildest of the practices, so you may wish to begin here, moving on to Hip Therapy when you feel more stability in your sacrum. As you start to feel better and improve functionally, use the Low Back Strength and Stability Practice to build long-term health and fitness in your low back, sacrum and hips.

  1. Short and easy Upper Back and Neck Therapy (21 Minutes)
  2. Focused practice for Neck Therapy (35 Minutes)
  3. Upper Back Strength and Stability practice (43 Minutes)

If you have ongoing upper back, neck and shoulder pain, begin with either of the two therapy practices. Upper Back and Neck Therapy addresses misalignment or instability in these areas. To release pain or restricted movement in your neck and shoulders, use Focused practice for Neck Therapy. As you start to feel better and improve functionally, use the Upper Back Strength and Stability practice to build long-term health and fitness in your upper back, neck and shoulders. Beyond the above practices, the DVDs also contain:

  • One Sciatica Practice
  • Two Practices for the Knees
  • Two Practices for Improved Digestion
  • Two Feldenkrais®
Practices in MP3 format. (Those usually cannot be opened on the DVD player, only on a computer. They can be downloaded to your cell phone, tablet or any type of MP3/MP4 player like your iPod.)

Although improvements in most physical and mental functions are likely — including posture, breathing, mental focus and pain reduction — these are not the goal. This entire series is devoted to the blossoming of awareness in everyday life. If you follow the program as directed, I’m sure you will experience a remarkable improvement in the quality of your movements, sense of vitality and mental focus. I hope you will soon enjoy the benefits of this DVD series. Kaelash Neels To purchase the 3-DVD set, contact us: Kaelash@hotmail.com, Skype and Facebook: kaelash
